Lucille Marie LaRock, age 94, formerly of St. Johnsbury, passed away
peacefully Thursday, September 22, 2016, following a long period of
declining health.
Lucille was born in Burke, VT, on May 27, 1922, daughter to the late Clyde
and Josephine (Martin) Batchelder. She was raised and educated in
Lyndonville graduating from Lyndon Institute, and went on to Lyndon
Teaching College. Lucille taught at Sheffield School, owned and operated
LaRock Taxi for many years, worked at Glovers in St. Johnsbury and at
Burndy's in Littleton. She loved square dancing, and was very musically
talented, playing the piano, accordion and many other instruments.
Lucille was also a member of the Lyndon Corner Baptist Church where she
played the bells.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law: Audrey Batchelder of Burke
Hollow, 2 grandsons: Michael (Lisa) Batchelder and family of Florida,
Jason (Heather) Batchelder and family of Sheffield, VT, her nephew and
caregiver: Dennis Drown (Linda) and family: Nikia, Naomi and Nathan
Drown.
Lucille was predeceased by her husband: Robert LaRock, her son: Lester
Batchelder and sister & brother-in-law: Laura & Gordon Drown.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2PM on Monday, September 26, 2016,
at the Howland Cemetery on Burke Hollow Road in West Burke.
