East Haven, VT: Seamus Aloysius Powers, age 17, of Simpson Road, died suddenly at his residence Monday September 11, 2017.
Seamus was born on July 5, 2000, in Morristown, NJ. He grew up in East Haven and was a junior at Lyndon Institute and remembered by his love of animals, and his passion of veterinary studies. His favorite activities included the anime club, bicycling with his best friend, the Warriors book series, movies, games Marvel Comics, and he especially enjoyed his role as a tooth fairy on stage.
He was proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community.
He had a hearty laugh with a quirky and brash sense of humor sprinkled with an occasional off-coloured joke. Seamus was very loyal to his friends and inseparable from his sister Penny. He looked up to his older brother Tim; enjoying ruffhousing with him as well as playing video games together. He looked forward to spending summers in upstate New York with his grandfather, uncle and cousins.
He found it funny to shout "PDA!" at his friends whenever he had the chance. Above all, Seamus accepted people for who they are without disparagement or judgement and he was never afraid to be himself.
He is survived by his mother: Kathleen D. Essex, his sister Penelope Fae Powers, both of East Haven, his older brother: Timothy and Carmella Gaskill, of Tacoma, WA, his maternal grandfather: Gary M. Essex of Lockport, NY, an uncle: Gary John Essex and wife, Stacy, of E. Amherst, NY, and cousins: Joshua D. and Matthew G. Essex.
