Christian V. Phelps, 32, of Lyndonville died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017,
following a motorcycle accident in Maidstone, Vt. A full announcement, including his celebration of life, is forthcoming.
On March 8th, 1985, Christian Victor Phelps was given the gift of life and, boy, did he use it. You could tell by the light-hearted smile on his face, his go hard or go home attitude, the beautiful plant life he loved to grow at his home, and all the lives he shared his gift with.
Christian, quickly known as "Sunny Boy" by his parents or "Phelpsy" by his friends, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in Lyndonville, Vermont. He was the type of kid who would (and did) huck a backflip at Burke Mountains Big Air snowboarding competition even though the inversion disqualified him. Yet, he was also the type of man that loved teaching his niece and nephews how to play games.
In 2008 Christian graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Marketing and Management at Castleton University. After college, he began working in the beverage industry and most recently worked as a Sales Representative at PepsiCo. He worked hard to fund his goals for new toys, adventures, and a beautiful home in West Burke, Vermont. On Sept. 16th, 2017, Christian wore out his gift of life doing something he loved; motorcycling on a beautiful fall day in Vermont with a friend.
He will forever be remembered by his immediate Phelps and Eckelkamp families, as a son and brother to his extended Laferriere and Hopkins clans, and by many others in our community. Christian is survived by his parents, Janice and Bill Phelps; his siblings: Nathan, Ashley, and Megan; his brother Nathans wife, Laurie; his niece and nephews: Leah, Colin, and Camden; and his dog, Atticus. He is also, survived by his paternal grandparents William and Martha Phelps.
Christian is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Vic and Lorraine Eckelkamp, and his paternal grandmother, Millie Phelps.
The Celebration of Christians Life will be held Sept. 30 at his home, 206 Old Farm Road, in West Burke, Vermont, from 11 a.m. onwards.
