Alice V. Doyon, age 51, of Center Road, Newark, Vt., died at her home following a long battle with cancer on Monday, April 22, 2019.
Alice was born on May 15, 1967, in St. Johnsbury, daughter to the late Edwin Arthur, Sr. and Beverly Ida (Mitchell) Lawson of Lyndonville. Alice was a graduate of Lyndon Institute in the Class of 1985. She married Randy Doyon on June 22, 1985 and they were married for nearly 21 years. She worked as a Para Educator at various schools in the area for many years including Island Pond, Burke Town, Lyndon Institute and Sutton Schools. Most recently Alice was the laundry department supervisor at Burke Mountain Hotel and felt it was the best job she ever had. As her kids were growing up she was a big Hockey Mom, not only for her boys but for the entire team. She spent countless hours sewing nametags on the players jerseys, and carting them all over Vermont to watch them play. In her younger years she played softball, bowled, and later enjoyed kayaking, fishing and deep sea fishing. She was an unbelievable cook and enjoyed family gatherings and cooking at them. She loved playing cards, gardening and flowers. She was extremely fond of being a true Vermonter and proud of her familys heritage.
She is survived by her companion: P.J. Baillargeon of Sutton; 2 sons: Matt Doyon and Tricia (Lussier) of W. Burke, Andy Doyon and fiancé, Taylor Cushman of Lyndonville; 3 brothers and a sister: John Hall, Sr. (Cheryl), Edwin Lawson (Karen), Jeff Lawson, Diane Rochefort (John) all of Lyndonville, 2 grandsons: Easton and Logan Doyon who she adored.
She was predeceased by her long-time partner, Leigh Griffith in 2014. Services will be announced at a later date.
Donations may be made in Alices name to Lyndon Area Youth Hockey Association ATTN: Denise Montgomery, PO Box 1241, Lyndonville, VT 05851.
