Sharolyn K. "Shari" Seymour, of Sutton, died suddenly at home
Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the age of 48. She was born June 30, 1957, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of the late Dale H. and
Kathleen R. (Craig) Weed. Shari attended Sutton School and
graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1975. Following high school,
Shari worked for 10 years as a teller at the Lyndonville branch
of the Passumpsic Savings Bank. She then worked as a
bookkeeper for R.A. Stahler and Sons, and later worked for Cal-Gas/AmeriGas, and then Irving Oil Co., all of Lyndonville.
During the last five-plus years, she worked as the finance
coordinator at the King George School in Sutton. On Nov. 28, 1987, she married Larry W. Seymour. Shari was a member of
the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 25 years,
serving as a firefighter, secretary, treasurer, trustee, as well as
being in charge of the annual strawberry suppers and the
Christmas bazaars that benefited the fire department. She also
served as the 911 coordinator for the town of Sutton, and was
the treasurer of the West Burke United Methodist Church. Shari
enjoyed all kinds of photography, taking photos of anything
that caught her eye, including family, scenery, flowers and
more. She enjoyed family trips to Maine, family reunions,
genealogy, gardening, collecting nick nacks, and most
importantly, attending her daughter's school, sporting and
social events. Survivors include her husband, Larry W.
Seymour, of Sutton; their daughter, Katrina Seymour, of
Sutton; two sisters and their husbands, Susan and Richard
Taylor, of South Kirby, and Karen and Edwin Lawson, of
Lyndon; her mother in-law, Evelyn Seymour, of Sutton; two
sisters in-law, Judy Tassmer, of Connecticut, and Charlotte and
Stu Farina, of St. Johnsbury; two brothers in-law, Jim Seymour,
of Sutton, and Alan and Jennifer Seymour, of Sutton; two
stepsisters and their families, Gloria Ulrich and Beverly Spears,
of Connecticut; many nieces and nephews; the King George
School community; and the many fellow firefighters from
Sutton and the surrounding communities. Shari will be sadly
missed and her hard work will not be forgotten. Besides her
parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Howard D. Weed,
in 1984; and by an infant sister, Sharon L. Weed. Friends may
call on the family this Wednesday evening from 6-8 at the
Guibord Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday,
May 18, 2006, at 11 a.m., at the West Burke United Methodist
Church with Pastor Sue Mackay officiating. Burial will follow in
the Sutton Village Cemetery, located just north of the fire
department. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Shari
Seymour's memory may be directed to the Sutton Volunteer
Fire Department, in care of Gary Lotspeich, 559 Sheffield Road,
Sutton, VT 05867. Arrangements are by Guibord Funeral Home,
located on the corner of Main and Center Streets, Lyndonville.
