Janet Marie (Morey) Reed , 69, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, with her loving family by her side. Janet was born Sept. 6, 1949, the daughter for Myrtle A. and Glenn H. Morey of north Wolcott. Janet has been battling cancer since February 2011, and she was all about the natural way of life, so with very little medication she battled and passed peacefully. As many of you know Janet loved her photography as she worked for many newspaper in the local areas, (she had a natural eye for everything), from deer, bears, moose, ducks, birds, churches, sap buckets, spider webs to lakes to her grandchildren. Janet also enjoyed building from a young age. She learned a lot from her father, and mastering the tools, Janet has built a lot of houses / building with her own two hands. Janet also loved her community, she was well known and loved by many, even if you didn’t know her within minutes you would strike a conversation with her. Not many people knew, even though her husband Allen ran the farm Janet was the backbone to it all. Janet loved knowledge she was very book smart, as she got her bachelor’s degree in pre-law, Janet was the quiet type. In may 1983 Janet met Allen Reed, and on Aug. 6, 1983, they got married and have run many successful dairy farms, in the ’80s and ’90s they moved around a lot but have spent most of the lives in Craftsbury and in 2013 they purchased their farm in Albany, where they farmed and raised many grandchildren and taught them the dairy life/ simple life. She was known as Gramma Moo and Grammie Janet. Janet had many talents from being an real estate agent in her younger years, to practicing pre law, to landscaping, being town auditor, to being an author to her own book, doing taxes, many carpentry projects, and working on the farming. She was and is an amazing women. If anybody needed anything she would drop to go help, no questions asked. Janet and Allen raised 4 wonderful children, and many grandchildren. Janet is survived by all her children and husband Allen G. Reed Jr. of Albany, Vt.; Christian and Beth Meehan of Derby, Scott Meehan of Craftsbury, Tracy and Jeremy Washer of Craftsbury, and George Reed of Craftsbury. Also by many grandchildren: Hailey, Harper, Steven, Mariah, Heather, Hazel, Big Dylan, Dylan, Evan, Annalee (baby who), Hunter, Chaylah, Cassidie, Bree, Natalie; also by many nieces and nephew and her community. Janet is also survived by her sisters Evelyn and Ken Stearns of Hyde Park, Beverly and Jerry Combs of Claremont, N.H., a brother David and Alice Morey of Summerville, S.C., sisters Charmane Raye of Johnson and Brenda and Pete Marchassult of Enosburg Falls and many more adopted family and community members … to many to say. A wake will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Curtis-Britch-Davis & Bouffard Funeral Home in Craftsbury Common, Vt.; and a funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Craftbury Common with Rev Kim LaRose officiating. Spring interment will be held at the Craftsbury Common Cemetery. Janet requests that this is a simple and informal service so please dress comfy. We are here to celebrate Janet life as she was known by many. If you want to send cards/ contribution send to Allen Reed, 1001 Vt.
