Sharon Hill Gray 74, passed away at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington on Thursday evening, August 30, 2018. Born in Sutton, VT on March 9, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Aldis and Helen (Burnell) Hill. On September 1, 1962, she married David C. Gray in West Burke, VT.
Sharon was a 1962 graduate of Lyndon Institute. Following her marriage to David, they lived in St. Johnsbury and then relocated to Warwick RI for 13 years where they started their family. Moving to Waterbury Center, Sharon worked at the Northfield Savings Bank where she served as Branch Manager for 10 years. With her husbands work transfer to Huntington Beach CA, Sharon worked in banking and education. She greatly enjoyed working as an administrative assistant at a private high school in Long Beach before retiring in 2006. In May of 2017, they returned to Waterbury to be closer to family.
Creative and artistic, Sharon enjoyed painting, creating Christmas ornaments, cooking, water aerobics, needlework and sewing. She enjoyed being with and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Sharon is loved and mourned by her husband of 56 years, David Gray of Waterbury; their children, Julie G. Kiefer and her husband James of Middlesex, David W. Gray of Waterbury; 2 sisters, Mattie Moses and her husband Henry of Lyndonville, Priscilla Hodgdon of Granby; a brother, Spencer Hill and his wife Lucinda of Huntington; her special canine best-friend, Daisy Mae; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
