Raymond Heath, 74, of Waterford died Saturday, March 18, 2017 as the result of a SkidSteer accident.
Ray was born in Orange, California on Feb. 28, 1943, the son of Floyd and E. Doris (Fleming) Heath. In 1947, following WWII, his family moved back to Vermont, to the Waterford farm where he grew up. Raymond loved deer hunting and snowmobiling; he was a longtime director of the Caledonia County Snowmobile Trails Club and was president of the Waterford Ridge Runners for several years. He worked on highway construction, principally for Caledonia, Inc. and Perini Construction. In 1976, he started his own excavating business.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years; two sons: R. Daniel Heath and his partner Cindy Hatch, and Andrew Heath and his partner Patty Hubbard, all of Waterford; a granddaughter, Heidi Baker of Groton; a grandson, Anthony Heath of Concord; great-grandson, Grayson Heath; a great-granddaughter; his sister, Donna Rae Heath of Waterford; a brother-in-law, John (Martha) Re of Newport; two sisters-in-law: Theresa (Michael) Clery of Billerica, Mass. and Christine (Bruce) Drown of Lyndon Center; nieces, nephews and extended family. Ray was loved by his family and many friends; he will be most dearly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 25, from noon to 3 p.m. at the St. Johnsbury Elks Lodge on Western Avenue.
