Richard ("Dick") T. Wheeler, 80, of Vernon, CT (Formerly of Carlsbad, CA) passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 with his children by his side. Born on October 7, 1940, Dick was the son of the late Gordon and Marion (Leavitt) Wheeler of Lyndonville, VT.
He was the beloved father to Lisa Wheeler, Vernon; Amy Page, Willington and Tyler Wheeler, Encinitas, CA and grandfather ("Dubba") to his "munchkin" Abigail Page, Willington, CT and many nieces and nephews. Dick grew up in Lydonville, VT and was a Vermonter at heart his whole life.
He moved to CT to apprentice at Pratt and Whitney and later worked for Stanley which took him to Texas for a few years. Returning to CT and eventually on to CA, he owned his very successful business, Scientific Vision Systems until his retirement in 2011; when he moved back one last time to CT.
Anyone who met Dick felt like an old friend instantly.
He maintained friendships faithfully, easily calling upon friends from all the way back to his high school days and creating a pool of friends from every area and time period of his life. He was warm, caring and extremely generous.
He was a devoted father and cherished his family. He was quick to laugh and enjoyed the telling of a good story. Inurnment of ashes will be in Lyndon Center Cemetery, Lyndonville, VT at a later date.
