Elwin W. "Sonny/Tiny" Cross, 66, a Danville resident, passed
away Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock
Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Elwin was born Feb. 18, 1939,
in Bloomfield, Vt., the son of Elwin M. and Pauline E. (Short)
Cross. Sonny was a Lyndon Institute graduate, Class of 1958.
He was a truck driver for many years, driving for Ralston Purina
and Ethan Allen. He enjoyed camping, woodworking and
socializing. Sonny is survived by his fiancee, Shirley Simpson; a
dear friend, Dale Parow, both of Danville; his father, Elwin M.
Cross, of St. Johnsbury; three daughters, Suzanne Rexford,
Joanne Albright and Rayanne Mello, all of West Burke; sisters,
Gloria Works of Milford, N.H., and Ruth Cole and her husband
Richard of St. Johnsbury Center; eight grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his
mother, Pauline, in 1999. Visiting hours will be Friday evening
from 6-8 p.m. at Pearsons Funeral Home, located at 70 Church
St., Lyndonville. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m., at the St. Johnsbury Center Congregational
Church, with the Rev. Bill Cote officiating. Interment will be in
the Hillside Cemetery, West Burke. Memorial contributions may
be made in Elwin's name to the Danville Rescue Squad.
