Roland Earl Johnson, 77, of Concord, Vt., passed away on June 30, 2016,
after a few years of declining health.
He was born in Lyndon, Vt., on Oct. 8, 1938, to Harold and Wilma (Allard)
Johnson. After graduating from Lyndon Institute he worked on construction
for more than 50 years. Roland also served in the Vermont National Guard
for seven years.
In his early years, Roland loved to race snow machines. He loved hunting,
fishing, and watching Nascar on TV. You could always find him in the garage
tinkering on one of his many vehicles, campers, or one of his many toys. He
also liked his nightly drives through Victory Bog. Roland enjoyed time spent
with his grandchildren and in recent years, breakfast trips with his two
granddaughters, Lindsey and Emma, as well as watching all their sporting
events. He enjoyed being in Florida with all his friends and going to the flea
markets and yard sales.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Wilma (Allard) Johnson; his
brother, Reginald; and a sister, Raylene.
Roland is survived by his wife, Sherri (Wilson) Sorrell; by his daughter, Lori
Johnson) Dodge and her children, Jacob, Garrett and Bailey of Lyndonville,
(Vt., Clarissa (Chris) Kenison and her husband Donnie, their children,
Cameron and Cody Brown, Jason, Michael and Danny Kenison; eight
grandkids all of Groveton, N.H., Amy Bergeron and her husband Aaron
(Pumper), their children, Arik and Lindsey of Kirby, Vt., Sarah Corey and her
daughter Emma of Concord, Vt.; his two brothers, Richard Johnson and his
wife Clara of Sutton, Vt., and Ralph Johnson and his wife Dolly of West
Burke, Vt.; his sister, Ruthann and her husband Robert Hamel of
Lyndonville, Vt.; as well as several nieces and nephews; also his very dear
friend, Dotti Morton and longtime friend, Peter "Honey" Duprey.
At Roland's wishes there will be no funeral or calling hours. The family will
have a small gathering held at a later date.
