Kenneth I. Dwyer, 73, of Lyndonville, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon Oct. 8, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lyndon on Oct. 28, 1938, the son of Clarence and Gladys (Wheeler) Dwyer. In 1957 he graduated from Lyndon Institute. He was a member of the VT Army National Guard and following his Honorable discharge he married Helen Noyes on April 25, 1959. Helen died two years ago on July 2, 2010. He had worked for Fairbanks Scales in St. Johnsbury and Calkins Ready Mix in Lyndon. He was best known and respected amongst local loggers as he operated his own business, Ken Dwyer and Sons Trucking and Logging which he operated for more than 40 years. After his retirement he worked part time for NSA Industries in St. Johnsbury. Kenny loved spending time with his family camping and traveling to Alaska, Florida, Alabama, and Maine. He was the family Cribbage King, and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids with a Cribbage board between them. He always had a great story to tell. Kenny loved to hunt and fish, he enjoyed being outside, and could often be found in either his shoot shack or on the water fishing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 30 of Lyndon and was a lifetime member of the NEK Skeet Club. Socializing, dancing and attending the Lyndon Area Meal Site at the Darling Inn brought him much pleasure. Survivors include his four children, Richard Dwyer and wife Jennifer of St. Johnsbury, Paul Dwyer and wife Kim of Lyndonville, Pamela Newland and husband Blaine of Newark and Donna Smith and husband Matthew of Lyndonville; 10 grandchildren, April, Jeremy, Tony, Andy and Daisy Dwyer, Jason and Nicholas Newland, and Kate-lyn, Brittany and Samantha Smith; nine great-grandchildren: Madison, Cora & Jayden, Aiden & Jacob, Karter, and Avah, Chloe & Jacob Alan; his companion, Lucille Nelson of Lyndonville; his siblings, Reginald Dwyer and wife the Rev. Barbara Dwyer of Lyndonville, Lois Noyes and husband Larry of Lyndonville, Carolyn Fassett and husband Jr. of Lyndonville, Stephen Dwyer and Brenda of Lyndonville and Walt Dwyer and Lyn of Lyndonville. Other survivors include Helen's brothers and sisters, Gertrude Goodsell and husband Harry of Wells River, Carlton Morey and wife Jo of Columbia, S.C., Robert Morey and wife Esther of St. Johnsbury Center, James Caswell and wife of Lyndonville, Lawrence Noyes and wife Lois of Lyndonville and Joan Colucchi and husband Ralph of West Burke; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Helen, his brother Ronnie; Helen's brothers and sisters, Robert Noyes, Arabelle Sheehan, Earl Morey, Jack Caswell, Herman Noyes Jr. and Priscilla Fifield. Funeral services will be held in Lyndonville Friday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Lyndonville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matthew Bowles officiating. Burial will follow in Lyndon Center Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family Thursday evening from 6-8 at the Guibord Funeral Home.
