Lawrence G. "Larry" Mayo of Lyndonville, Vt. died Wednesday
morning, June 13, 2007, at the Pines Rehabilitation & Health
Center in Lyndon, Vt. at the age of 71. He was born April 12, 1936, in Lyndon, Vt.
a son of the late Leroy and Arlene (Humphrey) Mayo.
A graduate of Lyndon Institute's Class of 1954,
Larry then entered the U.S. Army serving his country
during the Korean War. On July 7, 1956, he married Beverly J.
Morse. Larry worked as a purchasing agent for French & Bean
Wholesale Groceries in St. Johnsbury for many years. He later
worked for Super Foods Inc. and Albertson's grocery companies
in Florida, beginning in the early 1980s through his retirement.
He was a member of the Masonic Crescent Lodge 66 F & AM of
Lyndonville. After retirement in 2001, Larry and Bev returned
home to Lyndonville for the summers. Survivors include his
wife, Beverly Mayo of Lyndonville; two sons and their wives,
Jeffrey and Lynn Mayo of Benton, N.H., and Timothy and Amy
Mayo of Lyndonville; one daughter, Jill Genso and husband
James of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Cathy and Philip
Mayo, Cote and Cayte Bona; his brother, Roland Mayo, of
Higganum, Conn.; four sisters and brothers in-law, Marilyn and
Dean Sackett of Aiken, S.C., Janice and Robert Lepine Sr. of
Lyndon, Stevie and Barbara Morse of Ellijay, Ga., and Stephanie
and Stefan Grotz of Monterey, Mass.; and several nieces and
nephews. Graveside services will be held Sunday, June 17, at 2
p.m. in Lyndon Center Cemetery with the Rev. Barbara Dwyer
officiating. Memorial donations made in Larry Mayo's name may
be directed to Lyndon Rescue Inc., P. O. Box 401, Lyndonville, VT 05851.
