Joanne Marie Snelling, 69, of Greensboro, Vt., died Sunday,
May 29, 2005, at her residence. She was born July 5, 1955, in
Glover. The daughter of the late Fred and Ethel (Keith) Miles.
She graduated from Lyndon Institute in the Class of 1954. On
June 28, 1954, she married Robert Stanley Snelling in
Claremont, N.H. For more than 34 years, Joanne and her
husband made their home in Connecticut, and in the early
1990s, they returned to Vermont, making their home in
Greensboro. Mrs. Snelling was a homemaker. She enjoyed the
time that she spent with her family. Other enjoyments include
walking, knitting, sewing and visiting with friends and
neighbors. Survivors include a son, Aaron Snelling and his wife
Shannon of Wauregan, Conn.; a daughter, Wanda Snelling of
Danielson, Conn.; three grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Miles of Pownal; as well as
several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by
her husband, Robert Snelling; a son, Bernard Snelling; a
daughter, Sara Snelling; a brother, Maynard Miles; and a sister,
Marjory Blair. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2005,
at 10 a.m., at the Northern Vermont Funeral Home, 60
Elm St., Hardwick. A memorial service will immediately follow
at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ernest Machia of
the Hope Community Church in Walden officiating. Burial will be
at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in her memory may be made to the Hardwick
Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 837, Hardwick, VT 05843.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dian R. Holcomb, of
Northern Vermont Funeral Service, 60 Elm St., Hardwick.
