Audrey M. (Edmunds) Rexford, 77, of Lyndonville, died peacefully Monday afternoon, July 9, 2012, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., with her family by her side. She was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Sheffield, the daughter of Alvah and Avis (Phillips) Edmunds. Audrey graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1952 where she was a member of the National Honor Society and made the all-state girls basketball team her junior and senior years. She was happy to attend her 60th class reunion just one month ago. On Dec. 24, 1953, she married Robert Rexford. Audrey worked for the Lyndonville Savings Bank, then in the office of Purina Feeds in St. Johnsbury, then for the Old Fox Fertilizer Co. in Lyndonville for 30 years, then for St. Johnsbury Paper Co. for several years and then in 2002 she went to work for the Riverside School in Lyndon where she was honored to become part of the Riverside School Family. Audrey proud of her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and enjoyed attending their school and sporting events as well as just spending time with them. She was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan who also enjoyed tending her gardens and traveling with her husband Bob. She just completed the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in St. Johnsbury where she walked the survivors lap with her grandson Zachary, who is also a survivor. Survivors include her three daughters: Debra Rexford and her partner Ted Ismail of Wasilla, Alaska, Nancy Hartwell and husband Bill of Lyndonville (P.O. Box 777, 05851), and Pamela Scott and husband David Chase of East St. Johnsbury; 15 grandchildren: David Jr., Dana and Daniel Goodwin, Amber Sylvester Spear, Cassi Sylvester Gallagher, Robert, Bill Jr., Zachary and Tyler Hartwell, Malinda Hartwell Howard, Karl and Matthew Scott, Ched Chase, Kristen Heath Powers and Sarah Powers; 16 great-grandchildren; her sister, Alice Nichols and husband Kenneth of St. Johnsbury Center; two brothers, Allyn Edmunds and wife Paula of Lyndon Center, and Ashley Edmunds and wife Jennie of Lyndon Center; two sisters in-law, Shirley Temple and husband Ralph of East Burke and Mary Rexford of East Burke; many nieces and nephews, including Jane (Little) Ruggles who was like a daughter to her Aunt Audrey; her Riverside family and a dear friend, Carlene Brill. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Robert "Bob" on Sept. 9, 2010; her father and mother in-law, Clarence and Bernice Rexford; and two infant brothers, Arthur and Austin Edmunds. Funeral services will be held in Lyndonville on Tuesday, July 17 at 11 a.m. at the Guibord Funeral Home with the Rev. Ann Hockridge officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke. Friends may call on the family Monday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
