Betty Ann Porter, 83, longtime resident of Milford, N.H., died on Oct. 18, 2015 at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, N.H., surrounded by her loving family. She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Dec. 26, 1931, a daughter of Bert and Joyce (Powers) Jenness. She was raised and educated in Vermont and graduated from Lyndon Institute in Lyndon Center, Vt. Mrs. Porter made her home in Milford for the past 65 years, wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla., and spent many summers at the family camp in Vermont. She was employed as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Paul Porter Plumbing and Heating for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and working on various crafts. She most especially loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul W. Porter, who died in 2003. Family members include three sons and daughters-in-law: P. Douglas and Sheryl Porter of Mont Vernon, N.H., Gregory and Verna Porter of Lyndeborough, N.H., Phillip and Pam Porter of Milford; two daughters and a son-in-law: Judy and Steven Remillard of Manchester, N.H., and Pamela Porter-Ladd of Amherst, N.H.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Kenneth Ball of West Burke, Vt.; and two nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Burke Hollow Road, West Burke on Sunday, May 29, at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend an open house reception in Betty Ann's honor at the Porter Camp, Boulder Drive, Newark Pond, Vt. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
