Virginia "Ginny" Laferriere rites BARRE CITY - A Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate the life of Virginia “Ginny” Laferriere, 90, formerly of Summer Street, who passed away on Oct. 27, 2018, at the Lincoln House in Barre, was held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. The Rev. Peter O’Leary, pastor of the church, was the celebrant assisted by Reverend Mr. Daniel Pudvah. Crucifer, Fred Letourneau, was altar server. Organist and vocalist, Rosemary Badeau, accompanied vocalists, Ronald Routhier, Paul Plante and Cece Barber, in the hymns, “Be Not Afraid,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Song of Farewell” and “Amazing Grace.” Words of remembrance were shared by her grandson, Ryan Laferriere. Scripture readings from the Old Testament were read by her niece, Claire Duke, and Deb Laferriere, daughter-in-law, read from the New Testament. Gospel was read by Deacon Pudvah. Homily was delivered by Father O’Leary. Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Claire Laferriere, daughter-in-law; Cory Laferriere and Kyle Laferriere, both grandsons. Ark bearers were Bill Laferriere, son; Ryan Laferriere, Cory Laferriere and Kyle Laferriere, grandsons. Following the Mass, Father O’Leary read the committal prayers and gave the final blessing. A later burial was held in Hope Cemetery in Barre where she was laid to rest next to her beloved husband. Following the Mass, family and friends gathered at the “Steak House” on the Barre Montpelier Road for a time of fellowship and luncheon.
