Pauline Katherine Beede, 88, of Mesa, Arizona and Walden, Vermont, died
peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 at the St. Johnsbury Health &
Rehabilitation Center, with her loving family at her bedside.
She was born Aug. 26, 1926 in West Burke, Vermont, the daughter of the
late Raymond "Mack" and Mabel (Valley) McFarland. She attended Burke
public schools and graduated from Lyndon institute. She continued her
education at Brightlook Hospital School of Nursing in St. Johnsbury. Pauline
graduated as a Registered Nurse. On March 13, 1947 she married Robert
Hayden Beede in the North Church in St. Johnsbury.
Pauline worked as a RN at Brightlook Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Lancaster
Hospital in Lancaster, New Hampshire
and Concord Hospital in Concord, California. She worked in the
delivery room for many years and was very proud to admit that
she had delivered two generations of babies. She retired in 1989.
She was a member of the Brightlook Nurses Association.
Pauline and Robert wintered in Mesa, Arizona and spent the
summer months at their camp at Lyford Pond in Walden.
Together they traveled across the Country in their RV and spent many hours square dancing.
Survivors include: her husband, Robert of Mesa, Arizona and
Walden; two sons: William Beede of Rough and Ready,
California and Don Beede of Martinez, California; a sister,
Deanna Ploof of Enosburg; three grandsons; five great -
grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, Robert Beede Jr.; a grandson,
Joseph H. Beede; and two brothers: Patrick McFarland and William "Bill" McFarland.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at the
United Church of Hardwick with the Rev. Dr. Evelyn
Lavelli, officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in California.
