Maralyn G. Tumelty, (Wentzell), of St. Petersburgh, Fla., died on Aug. 7, 2015,
peacefully at home, in the care of family, her LSS friends, and hospice.
Maralyn lived in Lyndonville, Vt., and St. Petersburg and Seminole, Fla.
Predeceased by her brother Ronald J. Grant, first husband Phil Wentzell,
second husband Jim Tumelty, brother-in-law Jack Wentzell and his wife Libby Wentzell.
Survived by her nephews Lynwood J. Grant and family, Ronald J. Grant Jr.,
and her niece Annie E Grant Schultz and family, all from Lyndonville, Vt.,
sister-in-law Dorothy Wentzell Butcher and her husband Don Butcher; many
nieces and nephews. Family and friends will remember
Maralyn for her sweet disposition, delightful laugh and gracious ways. The
family extends their sincere appreciation to the caring staff of Lake Seminole Square,
who Maralyn thought of as family, and to Suncoast Hospice for their
gentle care. Devoted to family yet quietly independent, Maralyn was
accomplished in many unsung ways. A progressive before they
were named, she earned her master's at Columbia in 1947, was
professor, then Dean at Lyndon State College in Vermont. She
was devoted to Phil throughout his life, and found new love
later in life with Jim. She was active in the Vermont Club, past President of Maximo
Moorings Association, House Council at Lake Seminole Square.
While involved in the American Hibiscus Society, a new pink
and mauve hibiscus was created and named after her: Maralyn
Wentzell. Internment and remembrance will be Sept. 19, at Central
