Eva M. Howland, age 87, a lifelong Lyndonville resident, passed
away Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at her home surrounded by her
loving family. Daughter of the late Edwin A. and Verna E.
(Bowen) Lawson, Eva was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Coventry. Eva
graduated from Lyndon Institute, Class of 1938. She then
married Herman A. "Jake" Howland on Jan. 27, 1939. Eva loved
to sing in high school, the dance hall, the Baptist church choir
and the platform at the Caledonia County Fair. Her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Eva is survived by her five children and their spouses, Robert A.
and Mary Howland, Ronald A. Howland and his companion
Denise Doyon, and Donald E. Howland, all of Lyndonville, Linda
F. Stimpson of Wheelock, and Sharon and Jerry Dean of Ocala,
Fla.; a brother and his wife, Robert E. and Calista Lawson of
Inverness, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; an infant daughter,
Marlene; husband; son-in-law, Harris W. "Stimp" Stimpson; a
brother and sister in law, Edwin and Beverly Lawson; and a
sister, Frances LaClair. A memorial service will be held at the
Lyndonville United Methodist Church Monday, May 14, at 11
a.m. with the Rev. Barbara A. Dwyer, officiant. Interment will
follow in the Lyndon Center Cemetery. At Eva's request,
memorial contributions may be made in her name to Caledonia
Home Health and Hospice Division at P.O. Box 383, St.
Johnsbury, VT 05819.
