Mrs. Bertha A. Buck of Newark, Vt., and formerly of St. Albans,
died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at The Pines Rehab and Health
Center in Lyndon at the age of 86. She was born Feb. 24, 1920
in Newark, the daughter of the late Wilbur H. and Amy
(Burrington) King. She graduated from Lyndon Institute class of 1938.
Prior to marriage she worked at Fairbanks Morse as a
secretary. On June 30, 1946, she married Raymond H. Buck
who predeceased her on Oct. 9, 1995. While in St. Albans
Bertha was a member of the PTA and the Campfire Girls and
worked part-time in an insurance office there. In both St.
Albans and West Burke, she was a member of the United
Methodist Women (UMW), serving many offices including
president, and taught Sunday school. She was also a member
of the Grange #475 in West Burke for over 60 years. She
enjoyed family times, auctions, high school reunions, and
serving her communities. Survivors include one son: Walter J.
Buck and his wife Kathy of St. Albans (60 Congress St. 05478)
and their children Maura and Abigail; daughter Charlotte Parot
and her husband Arnold of Milton (5 Brandy Lane 05468) and
their children Carissa (husband Acel Bullock), Adam, and
Celeste; two great-grandchildren: Nicole Bullock and Trevor
Parot; a sister-in-law: Ruberta King of Lyndonville; nieces and
nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Everett
and Arthur King; and a sister Eunice Douse. Funeral services
will be held Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at the West Burke
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Mackay
officiating. Committal services will follow at the Hillside
Cemetery in West Burke. Family and friends will gather at the
Guibord Funeral Home Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of
