Ronald "Ron" Charles Flood , 68, of Newport died peacefully March 18, 2010,
in Newport surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 27, 1941,
in Concord, New Hampshire, a son of Donald and Lena (Thomas)
Flood. On January 26, 1968, he married Penny Pierce who survives him. He
graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School and entered the U.S. Air Force
where he served his country during peacetime. He had worked as a sales
clerk for J.B. Colton of Orleans, Lyndonville Hardware and Prouty and
Miller. He held membership with the Memphremagog Lodge #65 F&AM of
Newport. His hobbies included kayaking, camping, birdwatching and
spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Flood will be remembered for
his humor and for being a private person. He is survived by his wife, Penny
Flood, of Newport; his daughters: Dawn Flood and her fiance, Ron Dunn, of
Holland, Heidi Gleason and her husband, Randy, of Holland, and Tina Hill
and her husband, Mike, of Newport Center. He is also survived by the
following grandchildren: Christine, Mike, Marc, Keagan, Steven, Randy Jr.,
Gabrielle, Jonathan, Alexa, Silas, and Mylah, and by one great-grandson,
Mack. He is also survived by his sister Sally Guadagni and her husband,
Chuck, of Newport Center; his brother David Flood of St. Albans; his
brothers-in-law Ken Pierce and his wife, Mary Jean, of Newport and David
Pierce and his wife, Allison, of Northfield, Massachusetts; and by several
nieces and nephews. At Mr. Flood's request, there will be no services. A
celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Should friends desire,
