Roy L. Goodwin , 80, of River Road, South Lunenburg, died at his home
Saturday morning, Jan. 27, 2007. Mr. Goodwin was born in Dalton, N.H., on
Nov. 10, 1926, the son of Roy L. Goodwin Sr. and Annie (Stone) Goodwin.
Roy was raised in the Dalton and Gilman area. During World War II he
served with the U.S. Navy. He attended and later taught at the St.
Johnsbury Trade School. He worked for the Gilman Paper Company for
many years and also Fairbanks Scales in St. Johnsbury. For a time he
resided in Concord, N.H., where he was employed at the New Hampshire
State Prison for 12 years. In 1980 he returned to Lunenburg. He enjoyed
the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family members include his wife,
Bertha (Brown) Goodwin of South Lunenburg; five daughters, Cheryl
Lucier and her fiancée Peter Krauss of Mims, Fla., Darlene Egan and
special friend Stephen Burt of South Lunenburg, Brenda Tewksbury and
fiancée Kevin Mackay of Lyndonville, Robin Monahan and her husband
Norman of Gilman, and Hope Yeargle and her husband Michael of
Littleton; a sister, Roberta Baird of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Helen
Goodwin of St. Johnsbury; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers,
Clyde Goodwin and Oral Goodwin. He was a member of the John W. Weeks
VFW Post, Lancaster. At Roy's request there are no visiting hours. A service
will be held in the spring and announced at that time. Donations in lieu of
flowers may be made in his memory to Weeks Medical Center, Middle
Street, Lancaster, NH 03584.
