Alan Rossi , 62, of St. Johnsbury, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, April 21, 2007. He was born Dec. 10, 1944, in Barre, a son of Oliver and Beverly (Sanderson) Rossi. A 1963 graduate of Spaulding High School, Alan played baseball and helped lead the basketball team to four state championships. Alan attended Springfield College and earned a degree in biology. He then worked as a biology/physiology teacher at St. Johnsbury Academy for five years and coached baseball and junior varsity basketball. He also worked on the Ski Patrol at Stowe. During this time, he started AD ROSSI Inc., dba Vermont Tennis Court Construction. He was the youngest president on the American General Contractors Association. Since childhood, Alan enjoyed spending summers at the family camp on Lake Groton. He loved waterskiing and competed and qualified 10 years in a row on the national level. He also enjoyed deer hunting. A loving and devoted husband and father, he was the Alpine ski instructor and race coach for his daughter, Angela, during high school and college. He was Angela's life mentor and will be forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Survivor include his father, Oliver Rossi of Barre; his wife of 38 years, Constance (Pierce) Rossi of St. Johnsbury; their daughter, Angela Rossi of Vail, Colo.; a brother, Mark Rossi of Barre; a sister, Judy Rossi Perkins of Barre; several nieces, nephews and countless friends. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 1 p.m. at North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury, with the Rev. Jay Sprout officiating.
