ATKINS: Devon Phillip , 15, of Barnet, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident. The son of Phillip W. Atkins and Melissa J. Mann, Devon was born July 26, 1987 in Woodsville, N.H. Devon loved his sisters, brother, parents and friends; he was always happy and enjoyed making people laugh. He was a freshman at St. Johnsbury Academy and a member of the freshman football team. He enjoyed four-wheeling, music, horses, video games, cooking (he was a good cook), Chinese food, going to the mud bogs with his dad, building model cars, and working on trucks with his dad, especially his dad's 1955 Chevrolet. Devon is survived by his parents, Melissa J. Mann of Barnet and Phillip W. Atkins of Victory; two sisters, Kristen Renee Atkins and Heather Michelle Atkins, both of St. Johnsbury; a brother, Tyler Ryan Atkins of Barnet; grandmothers, Pearl Elizabeth Strother of Maddison, Va., and Susan Mann of Bradford; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located on U.S. Route 5 South in Lyndon (Exit 23 from I-91), Friday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m., with Bishop Glenn Goodrich officiating. Interment will be in the Townhouse Cemetery in Newbury. The family will greet friends at a visitation Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Devon's name to either the Perpetual Education Fund or the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in care of Ruth Goodrich, 2427 U.S. Rte. 2, Cabot, VT 05647.
