Penny R. Johnson, 51, of Middleburg, Fla., passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on March 24, 2014.
She was born Aug. 2, 1962, the daughter of Raymond and Myra (Howard) Johnson Sr. of Waterford, Vt. She attended Waterford Elementary and St Johnsbury Academy, class of 1980.
Most of her adult life was working in sales, with her most recent job as operations manager at Bed, Bath and Beyond in the Jacksonville, Fla., area.
She enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and visiting the White Mountain Region. She also enjoyed long car rides, playing pool and cribbage. She was passionate about animal rights and adored and cared for many animals in her life time.
She is survived by her spouse, Andrea Raineri of Middleburg, Fla., a brother, Raymond Johnson Jr, his wife Mary Anne Johnson of Rockville, Md., and several nieces and nephews in the Maryland region.
Her surviving relatives with St. Johnsbury area connections are: her niece, Lora Johnson Dean, Lora's children, Sylvia, Sean and Michael Dean (all in St Johnsbury); another niece, Brenda Johnson Rauccio now living in Ocala, Fla., with her husband Andre Rauccio and their children, Nicolletta and Alissabetta; and finally a nephew, Rodney Johnson of St. Johnsbury. She is also survived by some cousins: Diana Howard Thompson of N. Woodstock, N.H., and Rosie Howard Hautanemia of Grantham, N.H.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Lee Johnson of Tampa, Fla.
Her name will be memorialized on her parents' stone located in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St Johnsbury, Vt. Per Penny's request, her ashes will be scattered at a favorite scenic spot in the White Mountain Region with a simple family gathering.
