Fred Gilmour, 44, of St. Johnsbury died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Fred acquired his strong work ethic at a young age while working on the family farm in Barnet. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1985. Since graduation he had been a hard-working logger and truck driver. He logged because he loved the woods and it was a means to enjoying the great outdoors. Because of his kind, easy going nature, Fred made friends very easily. Amelia and Desiree were great joys in the latter part his life.
He is survived by his wife Desiree (Piche) Gilmour and their daughter Amelia; four sons, John, Joseph, James, and Jack Gilmour; three grandchildren; his father, Doug Gilmour of North Haverhill N.H.; his mother, Kathryne Gilmour of Monroe, N.H.; his maternal grandmother, Edna Souvigney of McIndoe Falls; two brothers and their families, John Gilmour and wife Jacqueline of Barnet, Douglas Gilmour and wife Joelle of McKinney, Texas.
Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home this Monday evening, Aug. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the McIndoe Falls Cemetery this Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Passumpsic Savings Bank for the benefit of his 2-year-old daughter Amelia. Please send such checks, payable to the Frederick Gilmour Fund, Passumpsic Savings Bank, PO Box 38, St. Johnsbury VT 05819.
