Sherry Lynn (Cookson) Scanzillo, 58, of Raymond, N.H., passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Elliot Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a sudden illness. Born on Feb. 28, 1956, in West Barnet, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Inez (Farrow) Cookson. After the early death of Inez in 1972 when Sherry was 15, Charles remarried and her step-mother was Jane (Blodgett) Cookson. Sherry graduated in the top 5 of her class from the prestigious St. Johnsbury Academy, and obtained a veterinary technician degree at Delhi Technical College in Delhi, N.Y. In her youth, Sherry volunteered at the Green Mountain State Forest. Later, she moved to New Hampshire and excelled in the IT field, working for MA-Com and recently DRS-Codem Systems in Merrimack, N.H. Sherry was an avid reader, regularly reading four books a week. She enjoyed her many yearly visits to Hampton Beach along with spending time with her grandkids. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be deeply missed. Sherry is survived by her devoted husband, Robert M. Scanzillo, with whom she shared 14 joyful years of marriage; her son, Christopher Flanders of Raymond; her daughter, Kelly Hebert and husband Dennis of Manchester; and her two doting granddaughters, Mikayla and Maddilyn Hebert. Other surviving family include: John and Anita Cookson of Bath, N.H.; Stephen and Tracy Jeffrey of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; Robert and Carol Jeffrey of Helena, Mont.; Allen and Pam Jeffrey of Wilmington, Ohio; and Mary (Jeffrey) and Earl Robinson of Vinton, Va.; many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. Sherry had two amazing close friends Beth O'Malley of Waltham, Mass., and Kris Jacobs of Dallas, Texas, and hundreds of techie friends she loved dearly. Visitation will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on April 10, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. Followed by a Memorial Service in the Phaneuf Funeral Home on April 11 at 11 a.m.
