Mark Edward Byrne, 60, Kansas City, MO passed away
Thursday, March 5, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital following
a tragic fall. Mark had an accomplished and recognized
career spanning 35 years in Marketing, Sales, Business
Operations and Consulting and he was distinguished for
his leadership, most recently as President and CEO of
IBT, Inc. of Kansas City. Born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont
to John E. and Lucille M. Byrne, Mark demonstrated his
leadership skills early as he graduated at the top of his
class and excelled in Football, Baseball, Basketball and
Track at St. Johnsbury Academy. He went on to earn
his BS in Marketing from the University of Vermont
where he played football and was a member of Sigma
Nu Fraternity. Mark is survived by his sisters Susan
(Havers), Martinsville, IN and Martha Byrne of Essex
Junction, VT; nephews Matt Havers and wife Sarah,
Evan Havers, Ryan Lanoue and wife Ashley, and Brendan
Lanoue. He is also survived by many close friends
including former spouse Deirdre Devine. Mark was an
avid fan of the New England sports franchises as well
as the KC Royals and the Chiefs. He was a member of
the Advisory Board for the Derrick Johnson Defend the
Dream Foundation and supported many local charities.
A service honoring Mark's life and memory will be held
at Mission Hills Country Club on Friday, March 13, 2015
at 5:00 p.m. followed by time with family until 8:00 p.m.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Luke's
Neurosciences Institute. Mark's family is forever grateful
to the CEO, physicians and nurses of St. Luke's Neuro
Science ICU for their exceptional care, kindness and
