Jill L. Harkins , 52, of Colchester, Vt., died peacefully, Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005,
surrounded by her loving family at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington
following a 14-month struggle with cancer. Jill was born in St. Johnsbury on April 5, 1953,
the daughter of Russell and Jean (Raymond) Lund. Jill graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy
in 1972 and from Champlain College in Burlington in 1974. On June 15, 1974, Jill married
Robert A. Harkins in the Newman Center on the
campus of the University of Vermont. Jill had been employed with
GMAC for 22 years in the accounting department and was currently
employed with Hampton Direct in Williston. As a family and with
friends, we have been fortunate enough to share many happy and
loving memories. Family trips, vacations, hours of sailing, hiking,
camping, climbing, and times that you and I spent alone. Looking at
your beauty, your smile and knowing you were always there to help
others, seldom ever thinking of requesting someone to help you.
Never complaining. You are already missed and will always remain in
our hearts and thoughts. Being with us always, letting us know right
from wrong. We will be sure Tucker knows his loving grandmother.
Jill is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bob of Colchester; their
three children, Heather Murdough and her husband Kevin II and
their son Tucker Cameron of Essex Jct., Justin C. Harkins of
Colchester, and Ashley L. Harkins of Colchester; her mother, Jean R.
Lund of St. Johnsbury; her mother-in-law, Janice Hess of South
Burlington; and her brother-in-law, Jim Harkins and his wife Deb of
Milton. She was predeceased by her father, Russell Lund. For those
who wish, donations in her memory may be made to the John Savage
Memorial Fund, in care of Colchester Rescue, P.O. Box 643, Colchester,
VT 05446. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
in the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Drive, Essex Jct., Vt.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m., in the Catholic Center
at the University of Vermont, Redstone Campus. A luncheon will be served
