Glenn C. Barber, of 3120 Daniels Farm Road in Waterford, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, after a five-year courageous and tenacious battle with cancer. He beat the odds with his extremely optimistic and positive attitude and with the blessing of our Lord. He was 54 years old. He was born in St. Johnsbury on Aug. 9, 1957, the son of Glenn and Nancy (Nichols) Barber. He was predeceased by his mother in 2005. Glenn graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 1975 and attended NH Tech in Nashua, N.H. Glenn and his wife Peggy owned and operated Vermont Packaging for the past 12 years and specialized in the commercial packaging business. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed and loved his family in Christ so much. The family hunting camp in Lewis, Vt., was a favorite place of Glenn's, the camp which is the last standing log cabin (built in 1920) from the Van Dyke railroad and logging operation of the late 1800s. He enjoyed hunting, snow-machining, and golfing with family and friends. In later years during the summer, he and Peggy could always be found riding their 1984 Honda Goldwing. He is survived by his wife Peggy (Curran) Barber whom he shared his life with for the past 16 years; his father Glenn A. Barber and step-mother Nancy Barber of Milton, Vt.; two children: son Nicholas D. Barber and fiancée Stacie Banach of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; daughter Christy Bogie and fiancé Michael Knights of McIndoe Falls; step-son Robert J. Bristol and wife Nikki of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and step-son Shon Haley and wife Susan and children Matthew and Justin of New Hampshire; 13 grandchildren whom were his pride and joy; Ariana, Bryce, Hailey, Jazmyn, Logan, Brianna, Hannah, Kyleigh, Reilly, Kadence, Aliyah, Ben and baby coming in May, Trevor; Glenn's brother Joe Barber of Milton; two sisters: Sharon Fillion and husband Mike of Washington, Maine, Jo Ann Craffey of Springfield, Ill.; brother and sister-in-law John and Bonnie Curran of Concord, N.C.; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Curran of Waterford, Vt. Services will be held in St. Johnsbury this Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church. His pastor and friend, the Rev. Kirk Thompson, will officiate.
