Christine Oakes, 57, of Passumpsic, died Monday evening March 7, 2011,
at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 18, 1953, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of
Ronald and Aline (Lacroix) Laliberte. She was a 1970 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy.
Chris worked for many years as a cashier at the Mobil Jiffy Mart in St.
Johnsbury. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and
grandmother whose life was all about her family. She enjoyed living
in her schoolhouse, doing puzzles, reading, and helping raise her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Alex Oakes of Passumpsic; five
children, Tiffany Favreau of Massachusetts, Gabriel Mason and wife
Melinda of Passumpsic, Nathaniel Mason and his companion Kumari
of North Carolina, Mary Mason of Passumpsic (P.O. Box 68, 05861),
and Nicholas Kalivas and wife Jennifer of Connecticut; her 11 beloved
grandchildren, Ireland, Wyllough, Meghan, Natasha, Brittany, Cierra,
Matthew, Samantha, Ian, Andrew and Logan; one great-grandson,
Gavin; her brother, Mark Laliberte and wife Susan of West Charleston; one niece and one nephew.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday March 11, at 11 a.m. at
St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury with the Rev. Patrick Forman, celebrant.
Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury is planned for
Thursday, May 26, at 10 a.m. There will be no visiting hours.
Donations made in her memory may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
