Carol L. Bean , 48, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Sheila Bean, in Passumpsic with her son and family by her side. She had courageously battled breast cancer for the past 21/2 years. Carol was born Dec. 21, 1958, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter Nancy (Eagar) Bean and Winfred "Peanut" Bean. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1977. Carol left St. Johnsbury after graduation and lived in Manchester, N.H., where she worked for New Hampshire Insurance. In 1985, she returned to St. Johnsbury and started working in the data center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., where she remained employed. Carol was dedicated to raising her son Tyler and making sure all the holidays, birthdays and family functions were celebrated. She enjoyed being a Mom and all the joys and tribulations that entailed. She became an avid collector of Beanie babies, Disney movies, and of course anything with Pooh who was her favorite character. She also spent many hours with family friends attending yard sales, fairs, Harvey's Lake swimming, and relaxing at Kenny and Sheila's camp on Ewell's Pond in Peacham. Carol's smile and determination to live and do the right thing will be truly missed. She is survived by her son, Tyler Garand of Passumpsic; her sister, Patti Kimball of (267 Jourdan St. 05461) Hinesburg; her brothers, Denny Bean of (21 First St. 05446) Colchester, and Kenny Bean and his wife Sheila of (P.O. Box 14, 05861) Passumpsic; nieces and nephews, John "Jake" Kimball, Christine Call, Michael Bean, Felicia Bean, Jen Kierstead (husband Eric), and Ben Bean; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and especially her best friend from graded school, Lori Ely, who was by her side supporting and loving her until her passing. She was predeceased by her parents; both sets of grandparents; and a brother, Michael. Funeral services will be held this Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m., at the North Congregational Church. Friend, Pastor Tim Cate, will officiate the service. Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home Saturday evening from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Caledonia Home Health, P.O. Box 383, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
