Carman M. Hamel, 62, of North Concord, passed away at home
Saturday, May 28, 2016 with family at her side. Her husband
David passed away June 6 of last year; they were married April 21, 1979.
Carman was born in St. Johnsbury on Dec. 26, 1953, one of 10
children born to Francis and Mertie (Walter) Simpson. Carman
graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1971.
Carman worked as a waitress and kitchen worker at several
area restaurants including the old Miss Vermont Diner and the
Miss Lyndonville Diner. She also worked in the Concord School
cafeteria. She loved dancing like so many in her family, playing
cards, singing, bowling, horseshoes, and most of all spending
time with her grandchildren and loved ones.
She is survived by two daughters: Kristina Sawyer and husband
Ted of North Concord, Katrina Hamel and Tyge Searl of St.
Johnsbury, grandchildren Logan Lapierre, Kiara Searl, and
Dakota Calkins; brother Randy Simpson and Rochelle of
Concord, sisters Rosemarie Rouillard of Claremont, Ramona
Robertson and husband Donald of Alabama, Rosealee Moulton
and husband Harold of Lyndonville, Sandra Magoon and
husband Robert of South Wheelock; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Carman was predeceased by three brothers
Reginald, Rocky, Robert, and an infant sister Rena Simpson.
The family is planning on having a big potluck barbeque in her
honor at her home in North Concord (513 Ladd Rd.) on
Saturday, June 4 from 3-7 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome.
