Betty Jane Gray of Vancleave, Miss., died March 6, 2011, in D'Iberville, Miss., at the
age of 57. She was born Sept. 5, 1953, the daughter of Bernice Gray Greene. Betty
graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1971 while living in North Wolcott, Vt.
Betty worked as a casino supervisor at the Imperial Palace Resort and Spa and
Boomtown Casino in Mississippi. She enjoyed her annual summer visits to the
Northeast Kingdom staying at numerous lakeside cabins, hiking Vermont's mountain trails and antiquing.
Family history was very important to Betty and she spent many hours researching her family tree.
She enjoyed visiting her aunt and cousins on the family farm on the New Boston Road where
she spent her early childhood years, always making a point to
get her picture taken with her cousins under the two stately maple trees that still adorn the front yard.
She is survived by a sister, Nita Terwilliger and husband, Richard; a nephew, Howard Terwilliger; and a niece, Kami
Terwilligier of Greer, S.C.; an aunt, Gloria Gray of St. Johnsbury, Vt; an aunt, Dorothy Gray of Oregon, Wisc.; numerous cousins,
and many friends from her years living on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.
She was predeceased by her mother, Bernice Gray Greene of Vancleave, Miss., on Sept. 30, 2007.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society in Betty's name.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at the Lyndon Center Cemetery.
