Truman N. Persons , 61, passed away at home Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006. He
was born in St. Johnsbury on Aug. 26, 1945, one of 14 children born to
Helen (Davis) and Milo Persons Sr. His oldest brother, Milo Jr., died before
him as well as six sisters: Priscilla Paquin, Clara Young, Edith Choate,
Margaret Knott, Marion Gillander, and an infant sister Edith. A Vietnam
veteran, he was a member of the VFW #793 and the American Legion Post #58.
Truman graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School in 1965 and was
a longtime area auto mechanic. Most recently Truman worked on cars at
his brother Dewey's garage. He had previously worked at Vinton Motors
and stayed there through both the Kelton and McCormick ownerships. He
is survived by three brothers and three sisters: Delano Persons of St.
Johnsbury, Dewey Persons of St. Johnsbury, Wilbur Persons of Waterbury,
Lucy Elliott of Connecticut, Mary Wentzell of Nashua, N.H., and Beverly
Richardson of Burlington; cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside services
will be held Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant
Cemetery with Mr. John Sleeper officiating. Anyone wishing to attend is
welcome. Memorial contributions could be directed to "DAV Transportation Department"
for support of the DAV transport van. Such contributions could be sent to
