DESPINS: Sandra Blake , 58, of Barnet, beloved wife of Albert (Joe)
Despins Jr., died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, surrounded by her family
after a courageous battle against lung cancer. She was born Oct. 1, 1945,
in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Marion (Reed) and the late
Dean Blake Sr. Sandra was a 1963 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy.
She had worked for Howard Time Sales, Vinton Motors, Kelton
Motors, McCormick Motors, Wayne Ford Chrysler and most recently,
until her illness, at Littleton Coin Company. Sandra truly enjoyed
spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren.
Her favorite pastimes were laying on the beach in Old Orchard,
Maine, family cookouts and dancing to country music, especially the
group Alabama. Sandra was well-known for her rum cakes and
various Christmas cookies. Her infectious smile and great sense of
humor brightened the days of everyone who came in contact with
her. On Nov. 12, 1966, she married Albert (Joe) Despins Jr., her loving
husband, who survives her in Barnet. Other survivors include two
sons, Albert (Joey) Despins III and his wife Leann and son Beau of
Barnet, and Christopher Despins and his wife Sarah of Groton;
grandchildren Kelsi, Korilynn and Dennis Despins of Concord; her
mother, Marion Blake of St. Johnsbury; a sister, Carol Earnshaw and
her husband James of Goodman, Mo.; a brother, Dean Blake Jr. and his
wife Jeannie of West Burke; her mother-in-law, Helen Rainey of
Lyndonville; her uncle, Harold Reed of St. Johnsbury; sisters-in-law,
brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many good friends. Sandra
was predeceased by her father; and a son, Cory Steven Despins. A
memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the
Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church with the Rev. M. Catherine Cook
officiating. Committal services for the family were held prior to the
memorial service at the Barnet Center Cemetery. Contributions in
