Ronald W. "Ronnie" Bumps , of North Danville, died suddenly early
Wednesday morning, April 27, 2005, at the age of 58. He was born
April 5, 1947, in Goffstown, N.H., the son of the late Henry W. and
Ruby E. (Walker) Bumps. He was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Trade
School, Class of 1965. Following trade school, he entered the U.S. Navy
and served on the USS Soley for three years. After the service, he
married Joanne L. Johnson on Sept. 6, 1969. He worked 30-plus
years at ET & HK Ide Co. where he was a mill worker and dispatcher.
For the last four years, he was employed by NSA Industries as a truck
driver. Ronnie was a member of a league at Gold Crown Lanes. He
enjoyed softball, volleyball, golf, snowmobiling, NASCAR and local
auto racing. He especially liked helping his farm friends hay, sugar,
log, and build, as well as camping with family and gathering with
friends. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Joanne, of North
Danville; three sons, Ronald W. Bumps Jr. and his wife Jolene of North
Concord, Sgt. Keith Bumps of North Danville, Nicholas Bumps of
North Danville; four grandchildren, Coleton, Lakenna, Preston and
Duston; his sister, Judy Lasnier and her husband Gary of Lyndonville;
his mother in-law, Eleanor Johnson of Whitefield, N.H.; brothers- and
sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many close friends. Funeral
services will be held this Saturday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at the Guibord
Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert H. Sargent officiating. Friends
may meet with the family Friday evening from 6-8 at the funeral
home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Mount
Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury. Since many members of Ronnie's
family have been stricken with cancer over the years, donations made
in his name may be sent to American Cancer Society, 11 Loomis St., Montpelier VT 05602.
