Richard "Rik" M. Wiggin of Littleton and formerly St. Johnsbury Center, passed away
Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the age 67. He was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago.
He was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on March 23, 1948. His mother, Sarah
Mathews Wiggin, passed away July 12, 2013. His daughter Brooke also predeceased him.
Following graduation from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1966, he enlisted in the
US Air Force. He served most of the time aboard a KC135 tanker, a mid-air
refueling plane, over three continents. He served over a year in Vietnam; his
final assignment was with the 509th SPS group.
Rik worked at Burndy's in Littleton as a lathe operator. Among his interests
were amateur radio (N1XED), astronomy, wildlife, ISS (International Space
Station), satellites, Scroll Saw Creations, LARK (Littleton Amateur Radio Club,
the VFW and American Legion, and ARRL.
He is survived by his father, Charles K. Wiggin, sister Deborah Wiggin Matthews
of South Burlington, son Joshua S. Packard and granddaughter Alexis Packard
of St. Johnsbury Center and a granddaughter Raegan Monroe of Cerro Gordo,
N.C.; an uncle and several cousins.
There will be no services. The family will have his remains buried at the
Pleasant View Cemetery in Orleans.
