Paul Gerald Gauthier Sr., 73, passed away suddenly on Oct. 14, 2015,
at Cornerstone Hospice House in Tavares, Florida. He
was born on May 16, 1942, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to the
late Alphonse and Bertha Gauthier. Paul graduated from St.
Johnsbury Academy in 1960. As a young man he served in the
National Guard for six years achieving the rank of S/Sgt. Later
in life he was graduated from Champlain and Trinity Colleges in Burlington, Vermont.
He began his career with the Vermont State Police in April 1967,
serving for 30 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant
and retiring in 1997. After retiring, Paul held several jobs lastly
with the Vermont Judiciary where he served as Court Officer for
several years prior to moving to Florida in 2010.
Paul most enjoyed time spent with his son and grandchildren
who were the light of his life. Many wonderful hours were spent
flying RC planes with them. Paul was also an avid boater. He
and Sylvia spent many hours exploring Lake Champlain. Those
who knew Paul well knew what a loving, patient and caring person he was.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Alphonse Jr., and a
sister, Cecilia, precede Paul in death.
Paul is survived by his best friend and wife, Sylvia, his son Paul
and his wife Kimberly, grandchildren Erika Paige and Curtis Paul
of Williamstown, brother Ronald and his wife Carolyn of
Danville, their daughter Shellie, sister Juliet Potvin of St.
Johnsbury and Paul's former wife, Myra Gauthier of Colchester.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Vermont.
