Neil L. Goodwin, 71, a long time resident of Troy died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. He passed
peacefully in the comfort of his home with his family near.
Neil was born the son of the late Ardelle (Powers) and Leo Goodwin on Oct. 27, 1943 in
Lyndon, Vermont. He was educated in St. Johnsbury and graduated from St. Johnsbury
Trade School class of 1961. On July 6, 1961 Neil joined the United States
Air Force where he was trained as a Weapons Mechanic during the Vietnam War. He was the
recipient of the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award
and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 5, 1967 at the rank
of A1C-E4. On July 22, 1967 he exchanged vows with Sandra L. Murray. They were married
in Lyndonville, Vt. in a simple service with close family and friends in
attendance. They have been married for 48 years.
Neil worked at Findings Inc. in Keene for twenty eight years as a machinist.
Prior he was employed at American Optical for eighteen years in a similar role.
He was a man of faith and active member of the Trinitarian Congregational
Church in Troy where he sat on the Trustee Committee and was the Financial
Secretary. Neil was a tinkerer and very handy. He enjoyed doing projects in the
home and taking care of his yard. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and
fishing. Family always came first it was important to him to keep his family close.
Mr. Goodwin is survived by his wife, Sandra (Sandy) L. Goodwin of Troy. His
children; Matthew R. Goodwin and his wife Bonnie of Keene and Maegan P. Ellis
and her husband Sean of Canaan. His only grandchild Reid M. Ellis of Canaan, in
addition to cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Neil is pre-
deceased by his siblings; Dale Goodwin, Donald Goodwin, Geraldine Gosley,
Beverly Cox, Pauline Gleason and Reginald Goodwin.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 1pm. in
the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 11 South Main St. Troy, NH. 03465.
Burial will be private with military honors. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Neil L.
Goodwin to the Trinitarian Congregational Church. All services are under the
