Marion Martel of Waterford passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 at the age of 73.
She was born in Hardwick, Vermont on Nov. 23, 1944, the daughter of John and Bernice (Blaisdell) Barnett. Marion graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1962.
Marion had worked at Kinney Drug in Lyndonville for the past 10 years and had delivered prescriptions to the housebound, a job from which she derived great satisfaction in spite of her own declining health. She loved going on cruises with Romeo having been several times to Hawaii. Her cat Minnie will miss her.
She is survived by her husband Romeo, five step-children: Joanne Martel and Jim Emmons of Danville, Eugene Martel and wife Tammy of Lyndonville, Richard Martel and wife Kathy of Waterford, Judith Buxton and husband Fred of St. Johnsbury, Christopher Martel and wife Karen of St. Johnsbury; seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Roger Martel and wife Marcia of Waterford; sister-in-law Annette Cadieux and husband Roger of St. Johnsbury; brother-in-law Eugene Brown of Waterford; nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend Sheila Amadon of Waterford.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home this Saturday, July 14 from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the family lot at South Walden Cemetery.
