GREENSBORO - Lorraine Delores Tolman, 72, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Northeastern
Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, with her family at her bedside.
She was born Sept. 15, 1944, in Hardwick, the daughter of Emile and Jeanne (Bellavance) Dufresne.
She graduated from Craftsbury Academy in 1962 and married Harold George Tolman that
same year on Dec. 29. Mrs. Tolman was employed at the Come and Eat Restaurant in
Hardwick, Charlmont Restaurant in Morrisville, and cleaned
camps. She received her real estate license, worked with Strout
Realty and as payroll tax administrator at National Life
Insurance Co. in Montpelier for more than 15 years, retiring in 2000.
She was a member of Mary, Queen of All Saints Parish,
treasurer of Court St. Veronica Catholic Daughters in Hardwick,
past member of Hazen Union School Board, auditor of accounts
for the town of Greensboro, Lakeview Union School treasurer,
founder and past president of Green Mountain Payroll
Association and member of the New England Payroll Association.
She taught catechism at St. Michael's Church and supported
local sports as a coach's wife. In 2006, she and her husband
received the Greensboro Award, for their many years of community service.
Mrs. Tolman enjoyed the Maine seacoast, knitting, sewing,
glass etching, crafts, moose hunting and wildlife photography.
Survivors include her husband, of Greensboro; four children,
Jefferson Tolman, of Greensboro, Laurie Hodgdon, of Stowe,
Annette Jones, of Craftsbury, and Penny Jones, of Elmore; 10
grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; six siblings, Leonel
Dufresne, of East Albany, Lucien Dufresne, of Williamstown,
Roger "Pudge" Dufresne, of Fairfax, Doris Voyer, of Calais,
Jeannine Young, of Craftsbury, and Diane Leslie, of Zephyrhills,
Florida; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by siblings Pauline Smith, Rita Davis and two infant sisters.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at
Northern Vermont Funeral Home, 60 Elm St. in Hardwick.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at
St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardwick.
Burial will be at a later date in Greensboro Village Cemetery.
