Woodsville, NH- Julius Edward Tuck Tueckhardt, Jr., 70, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, White River Junction, VT. Tuck was born in New York, NY, on October 14, 1942, to Julius E. and Elvira (Rassmussen) Tueckhardt, Sr. He graduated from Huntington High School on Long Island, NY Following graduation from high school, Tuck attended the St. Johnsbury Trade School, then Electrical School, and then he served in the US Navy for four years. After his time in the service, he worked for the Bradford Veneer and Panel Company and for Green Mountain Power Company in Montpelier in the engineering department. He then assisted his parents in their print shop and helped start the weekly paper the Sho-Case, where he worked for 39 years and 39 weeks. Tuck was active and served in various capacities with the Ross-Wood post #20 of the American Legion in Woodsville and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Wells River, VT. He ran another successful venture, the 111 Club from 1979-1994, with regular Saturday night dances. Teen dances were held on Friday s for 7 years. Tuck was very committed to community service. He was predeceased by his parents, Julius E. Tueckhardt, Sr. on February 2, 1990 and Elvira Tueckhardt on September 24, 1999 and by his son Julius E. Tueckhardt, III on November 22, 1991. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cynthia (Gayle) Cindy Tueckhardt of Woodsville to whom he was married on September 12, 1964; his son, Richard L. Tueckhardt of Westminster, MD; his sister, Doris McGennis of North Haverhill, NH; and his nephew, Christopher McGennis, currently serving in the US Navy, stationed in Hawaii. Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 31st from 6-8 PM with a service of remembrance and reflection of Tuck s life at 7:45 PM, at The American Legion Home, 4 Ammonoosuc Street, Woodsville, NH. A private burial service will be in Horse Meadow Cemetery, North Haverhill, in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center, White River Junction, VT 05001.
