BOARDMAN: James Rogers , 60, of 46 Cherry St., St. Johnsbury, died
unexpectedly at his camp in Granby, Oct. 29, 2004. He was born in St.
Johnsbury, Oct. 20, 1944, to Gordon and Shirley (Rogers) Boardman.
He attended St. Johnsbury schools and graduated from St. Johnsbury
Academy in 1962. He was inducted into the Navy in 1962 and was
stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla. A car accident in 1967
left him partially disabled. A stroke in 2003 added to his
disability. Jim's various health issues had complicated his life for
many years. Jim worked in a variety of jobs, but preferred being his
own boss. His quick wit and great sense of humor were very
entertaining, whether he was telling a story or involved in a practical
joke. He knew how to do many things and enjoyed many areas of
interest including motorcycles, the outdoors and hunting. His truck
was immaculately cared for. The stone walls he built reflect the
perfection he sought. He was interested in local history and antiques.
Spending time with his friends and at his camp in Granby were his
greatest pleasures. Jim was fiercely independent and lived his life his
own way. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Boardman; two
sisters, Bonnie Griffin and Julie Boardman; a sister-in-law, Fran
Boardman; four aunts, Dorothy Cimino of Newark, Del., Vivian
Freeman of Orange, Vt., Frieda Powell of Bushnell, Fla., and Phyllis
Powers of Lyndonville, Vt.; four nieces, Aryn Holloway and husband
Blaine, Michelle Griffin and friend Lee Smith, Elaine Ducharme and
husband Anthony, and Norene Menard and her husband Stephen
Johnson; three nephews, Callan Boardman, Lance Boardman Jr. and
wife Angela, and Brendan Boardman; and numerous grandnieces and
grandnephews. He was predeceased by his father, Gordon Boardman;
a brother, Lance Boardman; and a brother-in-law, Michael Griffin. Jim
is also survived by his many loving and loyal friends. A memorial
service will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the North
Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury with the Rev. Jay Sprout
officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory
to your favorite charity.
