Harold G. Dunbar , 61, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at his
home in Barnet surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in St.
Johnsbury, Vt., April 15, 1949, the son of Phyllis M. (Learmouth)
Locke and Raymond C. Locke Jr. Harold graduated from St. Johnsbury
Trade School in St. Johnsbury, Vt., class of 1967. He married Carrie
Somers on Jan. 9, 1988. Harold had worked for various trucking
companies before starting his own trucking operation in 1983,
hauling logs, pulp and chips to mills in Vermont, New Hampshire,
Maine, New York and Canada. Harold spent five years as an
over-the-road truck driver leased on with his own truck for KNM
Transport in Monroe, N.H. He later went back to hauling logs to area
mills. He enjoyed pickup truck pulling, trucking and being at the
garage with his friends "telling stories." He was predeceased by his
father, Raymond Charles Locke Jr., on Feb. 24, 1993, and his aunt,
Ann Langmaid. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Carrie
(Somers) Dunbar of Barnet; a son, John Harold Dunbar of Barnet; his
mother, Phyllis Locke and stepfather Dale Kendall of Barnet; a sister,
Janet R. Locke and fiancé Jim Langlois of West Barnet; a brother,
Raymond C. Locke III and wife Debbie of West Barnet; his mother-
and father-in-law, Gilmore and Virginia Somers of West Barnet;
Carrie's sisters and brothers, Gilmore Somers Jr. and wife Cora of
Wells River, Vt., Mallory Hacking and husband Robert of Strongsville,
Ohio, Marcy Myers and husband Gene of Newport News, Va., Lee
Somers of Newbury, Vt., and Jeffrey Somers and wife Kris of
Woodsville, N.H.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In keeping
with Harold's wishes there will be no public services. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vermont
Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Development Office,
