Elaine (Desrochers) Pelkey, 70, of Lyndonville, died Sunday afternoon, March 17, 2013, at
the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon, Vt.
She was born in Berlin, N.H., on Nov. 21, 1942, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Deal)
Desrochers. Elaine graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1960.
Elaine worked as a social worker for over 30 years at the Community Action Center in St.
Johnsbury where she helped disabled and low income families. She was a volunteer for the
VT Mini Olympics, VT Share Heat Program and a member of the VT Housing Board. Favorite
pastimes included berry picking, doing word puzzles, spending weekends with friends at
Foxwood Casino, and spending time with her grandson in Florida.
Survivors include her son, Michael Pelkey and wife Cynthia of West Newbury; her
daughter-in-law, Rita Pelkey of Waterford; eight grandchildren, Chad, Jennifer, Josh,
Jessica, Julie, Sass, David and Andrea; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Carman
Repasz of St. Johnsbury; several nieces and nephews; and her lifetime friend, Annie
Meyette and husband Boss of Lyndonville.
She was predeceased by her parents; her son, Robert Pelkey; her brother, Paul Desrochers;
and her sister, Ann Denison.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
