Carolyn Moore Brock, 66, of Wells River, Vt., died following her courageous battle with
ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Dec. 1, 1942, to Harold James and Madeline
Beryl (Steele) Moore and was a 1960 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. She married Robert James Brock on May 4, 1963.
Carolyn worked as a secretary for Charles Millar Plumbing Wholesalers in St. Johnsbury, and later assisted her husband in the
business at Thomas Pharmacy in Wells River. Carolyn was a member of the Congregational Church of Wells River
UCC and had recently served as the financial secretary. She was a
dedicated mother and grandmother. She spent time attending her
grandchildren's games and providing a safe environment for her
children and grandchildren after school. Carolyn had a great fondness
for animals, always having dogs and cats, mostly strays.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Madeline Moore.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Robert J. Brock of Wells
River; their children, James R. Brock and wife Kristine of Brookline,
N.H., Jacqueline "Jackie" Hodge of Newbury, Vt., and Dianne Brock of
Wells River; seven grandchildren, William, Christian, Matthew, Kaysie,
Jaymie, Mikayla, and Michael; one brother, John Steele Moore and
wife Christine of Springfield, Va., their son David Moore, and
Christine's daughter Catherine Schuetz.
Calling hours will be on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, from 6-8 p.m., at
Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, NH.
A funeral service will be on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m., at the
Congregational Church of Wells River UCC, with Rev. Betty Ann Abild
officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Wells River Cemetery.
