Barbara J. Gervais , 59, of St. Johnsbury, died peacefully on Saturday,
May 9, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. She passed away
of a long courageous battle with cancer. She had a beautiful soul with
a lot of strength. She was born Dec. 14, 1949, the daughter of
Kenneth and Adria (Worster) Wright. She attended The Seventh Day
Adventist School and Church when she was young. She graduated
from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1968. On Dec. 14, 1968, she married
Paul M. Gervais, before he entered the Vietnam War. Her family
speaks of her as a devoted mother and great friend. She cared
immensely for her family, just as her family cared for her. Her family
was her life. She simply was an amazing woman, a fun spirit who
loved to laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family. She enjoyed
the simple things in life, such as spending quality time with all of her
family, going for rides and out to dinner all over the Northeast
Kingdom with her mother, Adria. She loved going to the movies and
spending the day with her daughters, Karena and Sherri. She also
enjoyed spending time in the White Mountains with her family and
loved taking her granddaughter, Hailey, to Clarke's Bears. A recent
fond memory was her family reunion spent at Harvey's Lake. She
shared many good times with her friends, even her pets she loved
dearly, Jasper and Bella. She is survived by her two daughters, Karena
(Gervais) Parrish of St. Johnsbury and Sherri Gervais and boyfriend
Mark Dekoeyer of Passumpsic; her mother, Adria (Worster) Wright
of St. Johnsbury; two brothers, Kenneth Wright and wife Ginger of
Grand Blanc, Mich., and Pastor Richard Wright and wife Trudy of
Poland, Maine; her granddaughter, Hailey Parrish, of St. Johnsbury;
and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul
Gervais, her father, Kenneth Wright, and a sister, Carol (Wright)
Stuart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
American Cancer Society, 121 Connor Way, Suite 240, Williston, VT 05495.
Upon her request, a burial service will be held for family and
close friends at the North Monroe Cemetery on Sunday, May 17, at 11
a.m. Her brother, Pastor Richard Wright, will officiate. A special
thanks to all of her family and friends who visited her during her
illness. Thanks to Ann, Sheila, Sarah, Tom, Andrew and Rowan. Also, a
special thanks to Dr. Ajamie, Home Health & Hospice and Adria
Wright (Barbara's mother) for their care of Barbara.
