Wayne Nathan Anderson of Danville passed away at home Feb. 12, 2015 at the age of 78.
He was born Oct. 18, 1936 to William E. and Irma A. (Perry) Anderson in Burlington,
Vermont. The family moved to St. Johnsbury early on; he and his brother Bruce grew up on
Dundee Street and attended Arlington School. Wayne went to St. Johnsbury Academy and
graduated in the class of 1954. He and his brother were very close and did many things
together. They often helped their father with this trap lies around Stiles Pond. They
vacationed at Little Averill Lake and caught a good many fish there. Wayne and Bruce used
to help Ernest Safford with his sugaring operation during spring vacation, and he often went
to Burlington to hunt ducks with his uncle George Anderson and spent time with his cousins over there.
Wayne also went to agricultural school in Randolph and his brother brought him back and
forth until graduation. He enlisted in the Navy, following many in his family, and was
stationed at Grand Turk Island, and also in Pacific Beach, Washington. This was where he
met Victoria Dickinson whom he later married. They moved back to Vermont in 1960 and he
was discharged in 1961. He had a few jobs during his work life; he worked for Brown
Electric, Kilfasset Creamery, and later Humpty Dumpty Potato Chips.
He was an independent old Vermonter with a love of family and dogs. His interests were
hunting, skeet shooting, and fishing. He had a love of the outdoors and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by sons Dwayne Anderson and his wife Linda of Groton, Conn., Brian
Anderson of St. Johnsbury; grandchildren Jacob Anderson, Zachary Beam, Aiden Anderson
and Jasmine Anderson; his brother Bruce E. Anderson and wife Shirley of Danville, two
nephews: Scott Anderson and his wife Jenn, Michael Anderson and his wife Lisa; numerous cousins.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
